FAQs

Do I need to be an adult yoga teacher to participate in a Seattle Kids Yoga Teacher Training or Workshop?
Nope! However, we do recommend that trainees have a basic understanding of yoga and mindfulness. If you don’t already have a personal practice and aren’t sure where to start, reach out for suggestions. We’re happy to help!

Who attends Seattle Kids Yoga Teacher Trainings & Workshops?
Our certification course is designed for anyone who loves children and yoga! SKY trainees are educators, parents, therapists, kids yoga teachers looking to expand their skill set, adult yoga teachers and practitioners, childcare providers, school administrators, PE teachers, camp counselors, community organizers, grandparents, librarians, social workers, mental health professionals, dentists, dance teachers, coaches, and more.

Do you offer scholarships?
Yes! Seattle Kids Yoga is committed to increasing diversity, equity and inclusivity in the children's yoga community and acknowledges the importance of children seeing themselves represented in their teachers. As part of this commitment, we offer partial scholarships to BIPOC, people who identify as LGBTQIA+, and people from underrepresented groups. These scholarships are 100% optional - if you qualify and desire a scholarship, we’d love to provide one if there is availability. Scholarships for select courses are limited and offered on a first-come first-served basis. To apply for a scholarship, please email a brief description of why you qualify and why you’re interested in teaching Kids Yoga to hello@seattlekidsyoga.com

How do I participate in the online courses?
Our virtual, online courses are held via Zoom. During these sessions, your SKY Trainer will guide you through the course and you’ll have the chance to actively participate as well as interact with other participants. To maximize your online learning experience, we recommend a reliable internet connection, a device with video capabilities, a quiet space with limited distractions, and a space to sit for discussion with room to move.

Is Seattle Kids Yoga registered with Yoga Alliance?
We are not. While SKY Teacher Training is aligned with Yoga Alliance’s content standards, we view their registration as exclusionary and unnecessary to skillfully and successfully teach yoga to children. SKY instructors and graduates are hired to teach classes at schools, studios, community centers and numerous other locations based on their knowledge, professionalism and dedication, not on Yoga Alliance registration or affiliation.
